Spanish energy giant Iberdrola has once again been recognized for its corporate governance leadership and has achieved the top position in Spain. World Finance magazine.
Announced on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, the award highlights the company’s strong commitment to transparency, accountability and stakeholder engagement.
Iberdrola’s accolades come from World FinanceThe Corporate Governance Award honors businesses in various countries who show that “commitment to transparency and accountability, it will help create a better society and address the biggest challenges facing the world today.”
Governance leadership has long been one of Ibardra’s decisive functions. Over the past 25 years, the company has built a reputation as a benchmark for ethical business behavior, becoming Europe’s largest utility and one of two private sector utilities worldwide with a market capitalization of over 100 billion euros.

Iberdrola’s success lies in its aggressive approach to shareholder engagement and its willingness to surpass legal requirements for corporate conduct.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of its permanent shareholder engagement policy, Iberdrola recently launched a new space on its corporate website and held a series of meetings with minority shareholders beyond traditional institutional roadshows.
The initiative was rewarded at the 2025 General Meeting, with over three-quarters of shareholders participating, with all board proposals being approved by over 99%.
The company’s governance model also includes early adoption of transparency initiatives.

As the first IBEX 35 list company, Iberdrola says it is committed to a “robust corporate culture” that respects the rights of its customers, employees, shareholders and society as a whole, as it released its full compliance transparency report.
With many multinational companies facing a growing public scrutiny, Iberdrola’s perception could set new standards for companies seeking to gain not only profits but trust.
