Traffic jam in Hyderabad: What caused the gridlock?
Weighty rain caused traffic congestion at major intersections such as Begumpet, Panjagutta and Khairatabad X Road, adding to the woes of commuters. Long traffic was also reported in various parts of the IT corridor. The rainfall in hyderabad an average of 38.5 mm, with Serilingampally and Kukatpally receiving the highest values of 133.5 mm and 117.8 mm respectively, compounding the impact of weather.
Huge traffic jams stretched for kilometers in central Hyderabad, Secunderabad and at the IT hubs of Madhapur and Gachibowli. Traffic jams extended from Raidurgam Biodiversity junction to IKEA and various sections of the IT corridor. Parts of the state have been experiencing a heat wave for several days now, with temperatures exceeding 46 degrees Celsius in some areas.
