Google CEO Sundar Pichai has made artificial intelligence (AI) a core focus of the company. In addition to offering AI-powered tools to Google users, Pichai uses them to support educate his children. He also said that the company is ready for the craze around technology.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Pichai was asked how he experiments with artificial intelligence at home with his children. He said he was helping his son with his homework
“We operate Google Lens to do homework. I don’t want him to get in trouble, but the classes allow you to do that,” Pichai said
“But sometimes he asks me for support with math. Sometimes I’m lethargic and pretend to think, but I also operate Google Lens to find the answer,” he added. Pichai is the father of a daughter and a son.
“Google prepared for artificial intelligence madness”
Discussing the excitement around AI, Pichai said that all technology cycles go “this way,” but AI is bigger.
“We still have a long way to go. We’re inside [the] early stages of this. So you will feel this excitement, this madness. But I think we are prepared for it,” Pichai said.
“So you go with the flow. Accept it,” he added.
Pichai also talked about how the company allegedly lost its chatbot moment to OpenAI and Microsoft.
“We were not the first company to conduct a search. We were not the first company to start using e-mail. We weren’t the first company to build a browser… So I see this AI as we’re at the earliest possible stage,” he said.
Referring to competition from Microsoft, OpenAI and other artificial intelligence companies, the Google CEO said there is always a lot of competition when it comes to technology.
“We see it all the time. To stay ahead, you need to constantly innovate. It must be true all along. This is happening at a faster pace. Technological changes are progressing faster and faster over time. That’s why I’m not surprised at all,” he added.
