As Europe Today prepares to launch, we speak to one of the journalists driving this new chapter of Euronews. From Monday, Maeve McMahon, one of Euronews’ most recognizable faces and a prominent figure in the Brussels media scene, will become co-host of the network’s new flagship morning show alongside Maria Taddeo.
A TV journalist based in Brussels with over 15 years’ experience, Maeve has reported on EU and world affairs, from the Brexit vote to the Brussels terrorist attacks. She has extensive experience as a field reporter, having traveled across continents from Kiev to Lisbon, often carrying only her broadcast mojo kit.
She speaks five languages and was a correspondent for France 24 before joining Euronews in 2018. She has interviewed world leaders, hosted major Euronews events and anchored the popular “Brussels, My Love?” — The podcast is now a success, and she will continue to host it as chief anchor.
Known for her “firm but fair” questions and deep knowledge of European politics, she now brings a sharp and authoritative voice to Europe Today. So what can viewers expect from this new morning show?Hear from her.
Maeve, you’re back on morning TV. What can we expect from Europe Today on Monday?
“Expect incisive analysis, reliable breaking news, and engaging content and guests. As a natural morning person, you can also expect humor and great banter with me and my extraordinary co-host Maria Taddeo. With Krajina given an ultimatum, there is a lot at stake next week about one of the most important moments in European history and a story that we care deeply about at Euronews. We will try to make sure our viewers understand everything.
Where else can we find you on Euronews besides Europe Today?
“You can also find me on Euronews’ new debate show ‘The Ring’, which aims to bring the debates of the European Parliament into your living room. Our viewers have already told us that they love this new informative and entertaining format, so I’m delighted to be part of a great team. And once a week, I produce and host the podcast version of ‘Brussels, dear?'” – This will keep you up to date with the week’s European politics. As someone who is deeply concerned about the challenges and threats facing the EU, we are pleased to be able to provide information to our listeners in this friendly format. ”
What name would you like to see in Europe Today?
“You can expect the big European companies that are shaping today’s Europe to be regulars on Europe Today. Just like on national TV, we’ll have commissioners, key MPs, government ministers, CEOs and more. With our global reach on TV, online and social media, and the show’s multilingual elements, there’s no other way to share messages so quickly than on this brand-new morning show. There’s so much at stake for the EU right now, and it’s time to stay relevant. In these turbulent times, it’s important for European leaders to speak to voters and be regulars on shows like “Europe Today,” and I’d like to talk to Marco Rubio, who has moved from a traditional Republican who took a very hawkish position on Russia to President Trump’s more transactional ideological flexibility, as he interviewed Anthony Blinken just before a full-scale war began in Ukraine. ”
