Now that summer is approaching, your Google Calendar is probably filling up with one event after another. You’re already planning for a friend’s local wedding on the first Saturday in June, as well as for the weekend your family visits in mid-July. Suffice it to say, you need to arm yourself with reliable outfits and comfortable shoes that will get you through the long nights. When the atmosphere on these tours is heightened, but not over the top, look no further than the platform. Nice, practical and comfortable – the comfortable, chunky cut meets all requirements.
As always, luxury designers are responsible for revitalizing looks that ebb and flow in the circle of trends. The Spring/Summer 2024 season saw a vast influx of flat models on the catwalks, from unusual styles to pairs that can be worn with anything. Collina Strada, for example, opted for the former category with its quirky, lace-up tie-dye creations in collaboration with the footwear mogul UGG. Aknvas also went the route of maximalism, presenting oversized flats decorated with floral decorations in XXL size. If these two versions are a little too extreme for you, don’t worry: Gabriela Hearst debuted a streamlined slip-on style (complete with cream and metallic gold stripes) paired with a tailored suit.

Contemporary brands such as Loeffler Randall, also sign the silhouette. “They give a good height and are comfortable at the same time” – the founder and artistic director of the brand JessieRandall says TZR. I mean, the brand has been so successful because of it Theo sandal that it sold out immediately. (But luckily they are restocking the sought-after shoe this week.)
And the appeal makes sense, as the platform is definitely a footwear chameleon. “They look especially nice in combination with a classic low suit for a moment of silent, luxurious situation or in combination with a dress for a restrained, casual look” – editorial stylist Djuna Bel explain. However, if you are interested in a sporty style, they will also look great combined with gym shorts and a T-shirt.
So if you sell flats, keep scrolling to find 10 TZR-approved pairs. Summer can’t come soon enough.
