The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced on October 3 that it had suspended the distribution of emergency reserve funds to the state until it renewed people in the wake of the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
These funds, known as emergency management performance grants, are “supporting national, local, tribal and territorial emergency management agencies and the implementation of national reserve goals for safe and resilient nations,” according to the FEMA website. Nearly $320 million was allocated in 2025, with priorities being resilient and ready for extreme weather.
