The federal court appointed Jay Clayton and continued to serve as a US lawyer for the Southern District of New York as his term as interim lawyer ended without a Senate confirmation.
Clayton, who previously served as head of the Securities and Exchange Commission, was the US lawyer in November when then-president Donald Trump. The US lawyer for the Southern District of New York is one of the top US prosecutors and has famous cases against rappers Sean Diddy Combs and Gislane Maxwell.
