The European Union (EU) convened an emergency meeting of ambassadors from the region’s 27 countries on January 18 to discuss US President Donald Trump’s threat to impose a series of additional tariffs on some European allies who oppose US efforts to acquire Greenland.
Cyprus, which holds the EU’s six-month rotating presidency, announced late on January 17 that the next day’s session was scheduled to begin at 5pm local time.
