On Wednesday, the makers unveiled a fresh promo of The Great Indian Kapil Show. The next guest on Kapil’s show will be Ed Sheeran, known from “Shape Of You”, who went on a tour of India earlier this year. The promo begins with Kapil saying, “Please welcome the man who has sold over 150 million records… Ed Sheeran.” Krushna Abhishek continues by saying, “These people say there is no advertising on Netflix, guess what, Ed Sheeran came. Kapil further says to Ed, “You are younger than me. But in English I am younger than you. The global pop icon goes desi and sings a Bhangra remix of his celebrated song ‘Shape of You’.
The video also shows a girl from the audience shouting, “I love you, Ed,” to which Ed replies, “I love you, too.” Kapil then says, “I watch your videos. You went to Shahrukh Khan’s house. You met him, wow. Ed then tries to pronounce SRK’s iconic Hindi dialogue “Bade bade shehron mein aisi choti choti baatein hoti rehti hain” from the 1995 musical romantic drama Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, popularly known as DDLJ, starring SRK and Kajol in the lead roles.
The four-time Grammy winner then sings a random Hindi and Bhojpuri song that he created on stage for Sunil Grover: “aayo aayo Lakhanpal nu janamdin aayo.” Sunil, dressed as a rock star, tells Ed, “We have a show in Rajasthan, so you’ve been hired.” The video ends with Kapil saying, “He came especially to meet me.” To which Ed replies in Hindi, “nahi nahi… just show me hai Mumbai”
So far, seven episodes have been aired on the Netflix streaming platform. The season started with Ranbir Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and Ridhima Kapoor Sahni on March 30, 3034. Post the news that guests including Aamir Khan, Rohit Sharma, Diljit Dosanjh, Shreyas Iyer, Bright Kaushal, Vicky Kaushal, Parineeti Chopra and the Heeramandi team have graced the show so far.
