The five-time champions, currently eighth in the table with just six points from eight matches, are in dire need of inspiration from Pandya, who had earlier led Gujarat Titans to remarkable success.

While Doull expressed his appreciation for Pandya’s previous successes in Gujarat, he stressed that Pandya still has room to develop as a captain.
“It’s hard to come in and take over a franchise that has such a opulent history and success. Obviously he had good captaincy skills in Gujarat, you can’t lose them. “I think he’s growing into the role, but he still has a lot to work on,” Doll said.
However, it was Gilchrist’s assessment that was striking because he pointed out deficiencies in Pandya’s strategic decision-making.
“I don’t see him doing well strategically. I think some changes in batting position, some changes in bowling at certain times, just overall strategy. I don’t think he’s doing quite well as a captain,” Gilchrist noted, highlighting batting concerns and changes to bowling and overall strategy.
Gilchrist’s observations highlight the challenges Pandya faces in leading MI to success. His fight against MI raises concerns BCCIwho see him as a potential successor Rohit Sharmacaptain.
