Disney announces streaming subs hike on day it restores ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ to ABC

In a troubling timing feat, Disney announced on Wednesday that it was increasing its streaming subscription fees. Jimmy Kimmel Live! Following the controversial halt of a late-night talk show.

Disney “indefinitely” yank ABC comedian and host Kimmel last week after making a statement after conservative activist Charlie Kirk’s death. The backlash continued, including ACLU petitions signed by hundreds of Hollywood figures, including Tom Hanks and Jennifer Aniston, followed by the threat of boycotting Disney+. On Monday, Disney CEO Bob Iger and his TV principal Dana Walden said they were restoring the show.

Earlier on Tuesday, Disney announced its third increase in subscription fees in three years. Ad-free Disney+Tia increases from $3 to $18.99.

Hulu, which has ads, has also risen from $2 to $11.99, while Hulu, which has no ads, is $18.99. All changes will take effect on October 21st. The Disney+, Hulu and ESPN Unlimited bundles are expected to remain at $29.99 for an additional year.

It is understood that Disney had planned a hike for a while, but the announcement was rarely worsened.

After his opening monologue Jimmy Kimmel Live! On Tuesday night, an emotional Kimmel said: “Our government is not allowed to say what we’re doing or not say on television.”

In a broad speech, Kimmel said violence was never the solution. The Donald Trump administration’s crackdown on journalism and freedom of speech. The Maga (the greatest American again) gang are desperately trying to characterize this child who murdered Charlie Kirk as something other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from there.”

ABC and Sinclair broadcast groups and Nexstar Media (the latter two Control 70 affiliate stations) have removed the show after Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr criticized Kimmel on a podcast and speculated that ABC would face consequences unless they take action.

Both Sinclair and Nexter didn’t show it Jimmy Kimmel Live We will continue to discuss with ABC at the station on Tuesday.
