Ahead of the 2025 season, the Dallas Cowboys did something no one thought they’d do. Owner Jerry Jones traded generation defensive talent Mika Parsons for the Green Bay Packers.
Dallas’ defense will definitely get worse in 2025. On Thursday, September 4th, the Cowboys are on their way to face reigning champions, the Philadelphia Eagles. The team doesn’t have Mika Parsons, but the Cowboys’ defense received positive news. NFL insider Tom Pericero reported that Cowboys CB Trevon Diggs (knee) is set to play against the Eagles.
Trevon Diggs will be available for the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1

On the second pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, the Cowboys chose Trebondiggs from Alabama. Over five seasons, he played in 58 games for Dallas, starting his 57. His best season was when he had 11 intercepts leading the league in 2021. He returned two of those intercepts for a touchdown. In that impressive season, Diggs was named First-Team All-Pro. In 2022, the Diggs played in all 17 Cowboys games and received three intercepts.
Over the past two seasons, it has been a difficult battle for the 26-year-old to stay healthy. In 2023, Diggs only played two games with the Cowboys after the ACL was torn apart. Last year he played 11 of the Cowboys’ 17 games. However, Diggs needed a season-ending knee surgery. It was for the same knee that tore his ACL in 2023.

Assume Diggs and Kaiir Elam are on the outside.

This offseason, Pro Bowl CB had a “cartilage tissue implantation procedure” to address knee problems. To begin training camp, Trevon Diggs was on the PUP list. Dallas removed him from his PUP list on August 24th. Diggs were a full participant in practice on Tuesday ahead of Dallas’ season opener on Thursday.
So, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Trevon Diggs is scheduled to play Thursday night. Just a week ago, Diggs gave them a 75-80% chance in the first week. Since then, the team has traded Micah Parsons, and Dallas’ defense has become an issue. Does Trevon Diggs feel pressured to go back to the field and influence the Cowboys?
