Last week, Meta released its latest update to Meta-artificial AI, further integrating the chatbot with the company’s applications and adding fresh capabilities such as generating GIFs. The debut of Meta AI is here Lama 3the company’s latest model with a gigantic tongue and fresh Meta.ai website for access to the chatbot outside Meta social media applications.
Llama 3 currently boasts as many as 70 billion training parameters, and a version based on 400 billion parameters is being prepared, so it is certainly a powerful tool. But for the average person what other tools can do ChatGPT, GIVE HERAND Google Gemini jargon? Here’s where you might want to operate Meta AI compared to the competition.
Meta AI can generate GIF files
While most popular image generating AI previously circumscribed to still frames, Meta AI can now automatically animate its images. Technically, this was already possible in services like DALL-E, but it required the user to display a sequence of frames and then manually string them together. The meta will now do the indirect work for you, although relying on AI isn’t perfect as I’ve seen in testing.
The process is quite uncomplicated. First, ask the chatbot to generate your image.

Then tell it to animate the image to turn it into a GIF. In my tests, telling it to create a GIF from the very beginning didn’t work.

And that’s all. However, the results were not foolproof for me. The above example of a cat chasing a ball of yarn worked quite well, but this hummingbird seems to just float in space and poke at its feeder with its beak.

Meanwhile, here’s the youngest 17-year-old in the world (I just said “baby” in my prompt), amazed by the magical confetti growing out of his birthday cake. (I asked the AI to make a GIF of it blowing out candles.)

Meta AI can generate images as you type
Another unique feature of Meta AI is the ability to generate images while typing. Doing this is quite uncomplicated, and although the images suffer from the same dream logic as many AI works of art, the speed at which they appear is impressive.
To generate images as you type, simply go to Meta.ai (this feature doesn’t seem to work on the company’s social media apps yet, at least in my own testing), start with “imagine” and start describing your image. The chatbot will preview the fresh result for almost every character you type, allowing you to change the prompt as you type to suit your tastes.
For example, when I asked the chatbot to “imagine a dog chasing a ball,” it showed me a different breed of dog with almost every fresh character. When I told him to specify “imagine a dog chasing a ball down the street,” he intuitively sensed that I wanted the dog to chase a ball down the street. When I specified that the dog itself should be chased by clowns, by simply adding the word “and” after the word “chased by clowns” I added a third clown to the box.

This in itself is a brilliant marketing gimmick. I’m used to each frame taking a few seconds to generate, and this instead seems to display the graphics in real time. But what goes beyond the realm of marketing gimmicks is the fact that pressing “Enter” gives you four different results and allows you to make a video showing all the other options, so you can review your work and go back to the drawing board if necessary.
Meta AI can browse the Internet
Not every AI chatbot has constant Internet access, at least for free users. This is most perceptible on ChatGPT, where the free version’s data is circumscribed to information before January 2022. Meta AI, on the other hand, has access to both Google and Bing.
This means you can operate Meta AI to answer questions that require access to up-to-date information. You might ask, “Tell me what the weather will be like in Recent York this weekend” or “Did the White House announce anything vital today?” You can even ask it to compile information by giving commands such as “How are you Dragon Dogma 2 reviewing?” or “What’s the best movie to watch this weekend?”

For each of these responses, Meta AI will tell you what search engine it used and what sources it referenced.
Meta is not alone in this ability, as Google Gemini also has live Internet access. Meta Chatbot is different in that it is not circumscribed to the Google search engine and handles sources differently. Sometimes the sources referenced by Google Gemini “are not necessarily what Gemini uses to generate its response” – they may simply be sources that Google thinks you might find useful. Meanwhile, Meta AI always seems to reveal the sources it used with 100% certainty, but only those sources.
Meta AI can be integrated with Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp
Whether this is good or bad depends on who you ask, but Meta AI is now available on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp apps. Integration varies depending on the application – in Messenger and WhatsApp Meta AI will appear as a contact. On Instagram, it will appear in the search bar. And on Facebook it will appear in the search bar and in your feed.
For the most part, this means that integration beyond the latter two apps is pretty minimal. To integrate the search bar, Meta AI will now suggest searches and questions as you type them, although you can ignore them by simply not clicking on any suggestions with the Meta AI logo next to them (if you click them, you’ll exit your search and start a conversation with the chatbot). Regular searches will continue to appear with a magnifying glass next to them instead.

With Facebook feed integration, it’s a bit more resilient. For some posts, Meta AI will now appear below the post and offer more information about the topic or perhaps suggest questions to ask about it. Your feed may sometimes be interrupted by a generic card asking you to operate Meta AI, which acts as an advertisement.
So when should I operate Meta AI?
Thanks to the latest update, Meta AI is ahead of its most popular competition, which means it is now probably the best first place to go for AI-generated gifs. Image generation is also forceful and now has a unique “imagine” feature, and Meta AI has access to one more search engine than Google Gemini.
Still, you’ll probably want to keep using ChatGPT, DALL-E, and Google Gemini to be able to browse through the various results, especially when it comes to the still often dreamy nature of AI art.
