On March 10th, 2025, millions of people around the world will celebrate Commonwealth Day.
Annual observance combines 2.7 billion citizens from 56 federal countries in this year’s theme, “Prosper together.”
How are you celebrating Commonwealth Day in 2025?
All over the world, celebrations take many forms. In Cross River State, Nigeria, school children are taking part in special measurements, and Pakistan hosts federally themed IFTARs. Antigua and Barbuda will host street parades, and in New Zealand special observances will be held at parliamentary homes. In Northern Ireland, a flag-raising ceremony celebrates the occasion.
Since 1977, Commonwealth Day has expanded to a one-week celebration. This year includes the announcement of the Commonwealth Youth Award and the Commonwealth Peace Prize, celebrating contributions to peace and development.
The 60th anniversary of the Federal Secretariat also demonstrates compliance this year, celebrating work in climate action, youth development and supporting small countries.

Charles III’s Message of Unity on Federation Day, 2025
In the Commonwealth Day message, King Charles III emphasized the importance of solidarity in an uncertain age. “The federal ability to bring people from all over the world has stood the test of time and remains important today,” he said. Looking back at the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, he also praised the sacrifices made by federal soldiers and women during the conflict.
This year’s theme, “Together We Prosper together,” reflects the enduring spirit of the Federation. Rooted in the principles of family, unity and peace, this theme emphasizes the importance of a strong, connected community that supports and empowers members.
