Colorado Avalanche GM provides the latest updates on Gabriel Landscog injuries
The Colorado Avalanche captain has been out of NHL action in a Stanley Cup victory since June 2022, and the injury forced Landeskog to undergo a knee cartilage implant surgery.
But earlier this month, Landeskog was seen on The Ice, sparking rumors about his return to the National Hockey League.
In a recent interview, Avalanche GM spoke about Landeskog’s current situation and whether fans can expect a return anytime soon.
He said: “There’s nothing virtually new, but I think he’s continuing the skating and rehabilitation process. I know it’s a long time, and I’m sure everyone is the first in that line.
“He took his morning skates, and he certainly skates consistently and continues to grind.
“There is no timeline, not at this point. He has to get regular practices and contact. He has to be able to protect himself and move properly.
“It’s all in control now. And hockey is something else. There’s something he needs to test and understand.”
Avalanche is currently fourth in the Western Conference’s central division, winning a 5-4 victory over the New York Rangers in their latest match.
Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar also commented on the absence of the captain, who was originally set to be 12-16 months but is now over 20 years old.
Bednar said: “I hope he will be a full participant this season. It took a long time on Gabe, based on a daily or weekly basis, so there’s no long conversation. But he’s fine and I think he’s progressing. That’s all I can say.”
