The Cavaliers couldn’t stop at home this season, but the Hawks were able to find a way to win on Wednesday.
Trae Young sinks the cavs
Cleveland was somehow the best team in the NBA to start the 2024 season, but the Atlanta Hawks managed to score their third loss on Wednesday night.
Cleveland’s loss was the second of the season, but more importantly, it was the first home loss of the campaign after 19 games.
Trae Young was at the heart of everything good for the Hawks on Wednesday, with him recording a top 22 assists against Cleveland along with 20 points in the win. Young’s previous single game assist records came when he won 20 dimes in 2022-23.

“They’re really good teams that have played well all year round and we feel like they’ve been a bit inconsistent, but in the days when we played well, we played really well,” Young said after the Atlanta victory.
Jalen Johnson added his own 22 points, but he focused on giving Young credits for his assist.
“He really got off the ball and found everyone. Many people don’t necessarily talk about him, despite him leading the league in assists, but they don’t talk about him as a playmaker.”

Young currently averages 12.5 assists for the Hawks in 2024. This is his career high after 18 games, but this is also reflected in his 3 All-Star Point average of 21.8.
With a 17-2 record after a loss to Atlanta, the Cavaliers still sit at the top of the NBA Eastern Conference, but reigning champion Boston is two victories that have played one game.
