Exclusive: Cine France International, the global sales arm of Paris-based Cine France Studios, begins selling Naomi Kawase Yakshma’s llussion Vicky Krieps will be appearing at the Locarno Film Festival, and will be shown for the first time in the competition. Ad Vitam will release a film in France.

Cinefrance Studios produced the film alongside Kawase for co-producers of Kumie Inc. in Japan. Tarantula in Belgium, Viktoria Productions in Luxembourg, Pio & Co in France, Prod Lab and Marignan Films.
The film was filmed in Japan for eight weeks in a few days in Paris, with the famous Yakushima Island and the native Nura of Kawaze, a number of days in Yakushima Island. The rising Japanese actor Kanji also stars.
Kawaze said in Japan that “more than 80,000 people (people) disappear each year, with few organ donors. Through the eyes of foreign medical professionals, this story weaves time and space to reveal post-pandemic changes in human connections and Japan’s lasting views on life and death passed on to future generations.”
Yakshma’s llussion This is Kawaze’s first feature since the adoption drama in 2020 True mother, I played in the competition at Cannes. She also directed the official film for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
