Chinese movies ne zha2It is an animation feature that has been the highest ever-growing animation feature, costing over $2 billion at the global box office, and is distributed across 37 European regions, including the UK and Ireland.
UK-based distributor Trinity Cineasia has secured theatrical distribution rights from Beijing Enlight Media, opening more than 200 screens on March 21, starting with a preview of the UK-Irish cinema blockbuster from March 14.

Director jiaozi (also known as Yu Yang), ne zha2 Inspired by famous characters from Chinese mythology with unique powers. The character in the title is a mischievous demon child raised by humans who form an unsettling alliance with Dragon Prince, Aobin, in an epic battle to protect the clan.
In the aftermath of the battle, Teaser and Neza, whose bodies are on the edge of destruction, must embark on a dangerous quest to get elixir to heal Aobin’s body. During this demonic journey, he reveals a plot that causes a devastating war between good and evil.
The film, produced by Chengdu Coco Cartoon and Beijing Enilight, has been praised for its script, special effects and ambitious animation sequences. It was created over five years by a team of 4,000 animators, and consists of nearly 2,000 visual effect shots, and includes one scene containing 200 million individually animated characters.
According to tickets and big data platform Maoyan, it has won RMB 1.466 billion ($2.22 billion) in China alone after it was released on the first day of China’s New Year on January 29th, the first day of China’s New Year.
Not only will it become the best growing animated film of all time, it is the first film to exceed $1 billion on a single territory and the sixth largest film in history. It was released in North America through CMC Pictures on February 14th and ranked as the best selling non-US film ever.
It will be released on April 4th in Japan, which will open in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, and whose animation features dominate the box office revenue.
