China’s first Corgi police dog has once again attracted the public’s attention. This time, by stealing the sausages while working.
According to local media, Fukuyama, a 1.5-year-old dog based at the police dog training center in Waifun, Shandong Province, has built a reputation not only for his bomb sniffing skills, but also for his mischievous nature.
He was discovered just two months old by Zhao Qinghuai, a police dog trainer who was quickly taken by the curiosity and instincts of a young dog.
Fuzai officially joined the ranks in October 2024 after successfully completing training in explosive detection, vehicle inspection and obstacle navigation.
Since then, he has participated in security operations such as the Waifun International Kite Festival and Community Outreach Events.
Despite his budding career, the wisteria journey was not without hiccups. In January he was disciplinary after taking a nap while working and urinating in a food bowl.
Still, the public was more amusing than furious, and the Wyfang Public Safety Bureau has gained over 400,000 followers.
A craving corgi
Now, the Corgi made another headline after swiping grilled sausages from a young girl during their April patrol. At this moment when he gets caught up in the camera, Fujii bites and walks to make the crowd laugh.
The girl’s mother later assured the media that the daughter was free to the rest of the sausage.
Trainer Zhao issued a public apology and pledged to tighten Fuzai’s food discipline, local media said.
“Huzai has broken the rule that he never takes anything from the public,” Zao said.
Despite this, social media users came together to protect Corgi. “Why is everyone mad with a dog as cute as a wisteria?” one person said.
On April 29th, Fuzhou and his trainer visited the girl’s kindergarten and revised it by offering sausages, theme gifts and kites.
“I hope that both Fujii and my daughter will grow up healthy and happy. I will be strong and I will maintain Fujiwara,” the child’s mother said.
