Chicago Cubs Reveal Shocking Timeline For Miguel Amaya Return From Injury As MLB Star Set To Miss Months Of Action

The Chicago Cubs were hit with news of several major injuries as the MLB franchise revealed that Miguel Amaya would be coming out for up to six weeks.

What caused the injury to Miguel Amaya of the Chicago Cubs?

The Chicago Cubs have been in tears so far in the 2025 season, and are one of the best offensive teams in all major league baseball and are sitting second in the National League.

Unfortunately for the Cubs, their momentum has been a huge hit in recent weeks as Starman Miguel Amaya suffered a serious left-side injury against the Cincinnati Reds.

Despite his injuries, the Cubs won a series against the Cincinnati Red, winning Game 1 13-6, losing Game 2 6-4, earning an 11-8 victory in the final encounter.

The 26-year-old enjoys a strong season in Chicago, helping his team reach a 34-21 record and was originally on the 10-day injury list before the recent revelation.

How long will Miguel Amaya be out?

As mentioned earlier, Amaya was originally on the 10-day injury list and was expected to return earlier in the late due to the Cubs, but recent MRI has changed this dramatically.

In fact, the 26-year-old is scheduled to go out for the next four to six weeks, and this absence could raise concerns as Amaya has already registered some impressive numbers.

Amaya has signed with the Cubs since 2015 and has joined the international player, and was added to Chicago’s main MLB roster in 2023, with the Panama-born player improving year-over-year.

Despite these improved performances, Miguel Amaya is one of the lowest paid players in Chicago and is like Dansby Swanson, one of the most paid players in MLB.

Before the injury, Amaya registered a slash line of .280/3.13/.509, adding nine times doubles with four home runs along the overall impressive display.

Who will replace Miguel Amaya?

Upon hearing this news, the Chicago Cubs began looking into the best possible alternatives for them, with some fans pointing out their young talent, Moises Ballesteros.

But Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsel has revealed why the three World Series winners don’t put pressure on the 21-year-old.

The counsel said: “The most important thing to understand about Moises is that he is 21 years old and plays a position that is the most difficult position for him to play. It is the oldest position in the league and requires more reps.”

The Cubs appear to have opted to use Reese McGuire after the US agreed to a minor league deal this January and first appeared on May 25th.

McGuire has played over 300 MLB matches during his career, and Cubs president Jed Hoyer explained that his inclusion on his side is not about reducing ballestero.

Heuer said: “Where we are, it felt like the right decision to raise Reese. It’s not Mores’ knock. We’ve called him out before because we really believe in his bat. The offense is ahead of the catch, but that’s natural. There’s a reason why catchers get better with age.”
