Parts of the Cannes Croixet were closed Saturday afternoon after palm trees fell onto the sidewalk, reportedly causing pedestrian injuries.
A passerby said screen On a Saturday, around 12:30pm there was a loud “crack” sound as the trees were blown away by the wind before people screamed.
The man then saw blood coming from his head, fellow pedestrians in attendance and emergency services being called. Pedestrians had been removed from the passageway by 13.45.
Emergency services have been working to remove trees from the aisles as seen in the video below.

The incident occurred in front of Mademoiselle Greyplargivarie Beach, the key venue for the Cannes event, and the aisles were closed in front of the venue.
Saturday afternoons are one of the busiest times of the festival, with thousands of festival attendees taking part in meetings and events along the Croisette.

Updated, 15.10 CEST, 17/5: A Cannes representative says a pedestrian was “slightly” injured by a 3m tall tree falling into the Croisette.
“The trees will be removed as soon as possible and pedestrian paths will be cleared,” the city representative said.
