As enterprises grapple with the challenges of digital transformation, integrating generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) into enterprise operations has become a focal point for industry leaders. At the 2024 ETCIO Annual Conclave, industry representatives shed featherlight on the key frameworks, strategic experiments and necessary balances needed to realize GenAI’s full potential while ensuring responsible implementation across sectors.
“We have established a system to ensure AI in CoEs around the world. There has to be a framework, but experimentation has to be allowed,” says Ruma Kishore, director of digital transformation at HUL.
“Balance is key. If you’re not broadcasting live, you don’t know the power of technology. You have to minimize risk,” says Neetan Chopra, CDIO, IndiGo.
“Start scaling LLM and experimenting with the next phase – automation agents,” he adds.
“When we talk about prioritizing, have a list. You need to measure the impact on the organization. You have KPIs, monitoring mechanisms. You need to see what part of the technology solves the problem. Good idea workshops lend a hand build a pipeline with clear outcomes,” explains Vinod G, CIO, Ashok Leyland Confined.
“The differentiator is the quality of the data and the talent required to create GenAI,” he adds.
“The way of working has to change. This will significantly change the entire implementation process,” notes Ramesh Narayanaswamy, CTO at Aditya Birla Capital.
“When we employ artificial intelligence in conversations, it shortens the transaction cycle. People want to experiment, but they want to act sparingly. In the next 4-5 years, people will want to achieve more with less,” says Vimal Venkatram, Managing Director – Asia Pacific, Japan, Redis.
“Everyone should experiment with GenAI. Make sure you have a clear set of goals. Early failures are good too. Take it as it will be in our mainstream life,” encourages Rakesh Bhardwaj.
“Have a structured governance framework around GenAI,” advises Pallavi Katiyar, CIO at Tech Mahindra.
