The Boston Red Sox have not been on the same team in recent years, but their president wants to change that, and Sam Kennedy hopes his team will try again for AL.
Boston is ready to try
The Boston Red Sox are holding team meetings with many MLB teams this year to explore ways to improve their mobility into the future.
2024 was the first time Boston had finished with a positive record for the first time in three years, but Red Sox President Sam Kennedy wants more from his franchise.
The Red Sox have not been involved in the postseason since 2021, and in their final playoff run they won it all the way up to the Championship Series before the Astros knocked out of contesting Boston after six games.
After three years of struggling in Boston, Kennedy is aiming to get back on track, and the Boston president has already made plans to give his team a chance.
“Even if we take over CBT, our priorities are 90-95 wins, we won the American League East and won the Division for several years,” Kennedy said.

“We’re investing more than last year. We’re going to invest in the future. There’s definitely an extreme urgency to participate in the American League East Championship and run a deep postseason in 2025.”
The biggest name of free agency that could come to the Red Sox is Juan Soto, and if Boston actually ignores CBT, they have a real chance to sign one of the league’s most diverse players.
David Ortiz of Juan Soto: “I see him with the Red Sox, I really do. Unless something else happens because other teams are trying too. Even me, I’m working with him.”

Over the past three years of struggle, the Red Sox have not tried to break tax rules, but Kennedy has now made it clear that he is trying to change things in the future at any cost.
Even if the Red Sox miss Soto before next season, we can expect to spend more this year than most teams in their league as the franchise will eventually return to a serious postseason contender.
