This week, Microsoft unveiled a recent line of Copilot+ PC Windows AI Surface computers that Microsoft says are faster than the recent M3 MacBooks. Whether or not these results support real-world testing, the devices are available for pre-order now, and one pre-order deal in particular looks pretty good.
The recent Surface line includes Surface Laptop Copilot+ PC and Surface Pro Copilot+ PC, both with prices starting at $999.99. Best Buy immediately ended pre-orders for all Copilot+ devices, announcing in: press release that My Best Buy Plus and My Best Buy Total members can receive a free 50-inch 4K Astute TV when they pre-order one of the AI-enabled devices.
While Best Buy’s pre-order offer applies to every recent Copilot+ PC device, the recent Surface Laptop and Surface Pro are probably the most engaging additions. Both Surface devices support Snapdragon X Elite and Plus processors and come with all the features of Copilot+ PC. You can also choose whether you prefer a laptop or a convertible laptop/tablet.
Here’s how senior tech editor Jake Peterson described the Surface Laptop:
Surface Laptop has a recent design with thinner bezels and a touchscreen touchpad, and is available with a 13.8- or 15-inch display, both with a 120Hz refresh rate. Microsoft claims this device offers up to 20 hours of local video playback (not streaming, remember) on the 13.8-inch screen and 22 hours on the 15.8-inch model, and supports Wi-Fi 7. As the name suggests, it’s it’s a laptop, so even though it has a touchscreen, it can’t be detached. It’s available for pre-order now, with prices starting at $999.99 (13.8-inch) and $1,299.99 (15-inch). If you want the 13.8-inch Snapdragon X Elite, that will raise the price to $1,399.99, which is $100 more than the 15-inch Elite model.
Here’s what Jake had to say about Surface Pro:
If you’re looking for a machine with a detachable tablet, the Surface Pro is it. The latest Surface 2-in-1 is available in an optional 13-inch OLED configuration with an ultra-wide-angle camera, two USB-4 ports, Wi-Fi 7, and support for up to three external 4K displays. It’s worth noting that many parts of the Surface Pro are actually replaceable, including the motherboard, battery, and cameras. (What year is it?) Finally, the recent Surface Flex Keyboard actually works when detached, so you don’t have to physically connect it to the display to type.
The free 50-inch Fire TV 4K Insignia Class F30 that comes with the computers usually costs $299.99. Considering Best Buy’s most basic paid membership costs $49.99 per year, this deal is worth it, provided you need a recent TV. You’ll receive other benefits, including additional discounts on Drops sales, and you can always cancel your membership after one year.
