Hollywood veteran Bernard Hill, best known for playing Captain Edward John Smith in the 1997 film Titanic, has died at the age of 79. His co-star Barbara Dickson, who worked with Bernard Hill on the film, announced the depressed news on social media. A statement from his family is expected soon.
Barbara Dickson went to the X account (formerly called Twitter), shared the post and wrote in the caption: “It is with great sadness that I note the death of Bernard Hill. We worked together on John Paul George Ringo and Bert, Willy Russell’s wonderful 1974 show. -1975. A truly great actor. It was an honor to meet him.

For the uninitiated, Barbara Dickson and Bernard Hill worked together on a musical film called John, Paul, George, Ringo… and Bert. Bernard Hill played the role of John Lenon, Trevor Eve for Paul McCartney, George Harrison for Phillip Joseph, Ringo Star for Anthony Sher and Brian Epstein for Robin Hooper.
