After rejecting Louisiana’s request to override a key provision of the federal voting rights lawsuit in a state-level constituency change lawsuit, the federal court of appeals is considering whether it should suspend that ruling.

In a ruling on August 14th, a three-judicial panel of judges from the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals confirmed the U.S. District Court’s decision that a Louisiana Legislative District redrawing of Louisiana’s legislative district violates Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act. This case is Nairnev. It is known as Landry. On August 15, the state asked the circuit court to hold the decision.
