While Zendaya and Florence Pugh Dune: part two The press tour style certainly wowed us earlier this year on the sartorial front, and we couldn’t facilitate but crave more red carpet moments from Anya Taylor-Joy — a surprise addition to the star-studded cast. The fashion muse’s absence from the promotional trail was understandable, as was her character kept the secret only a few weeks before the release date. However, for many fashion enthusiasts, two dystopian designer looks weren’t enough considering her sartorial skills. Well, now Paco Rabanne Taylor-Joy’s latest archival look proves that her futuristic fashion era lives on, as evidenced by the press tour promoting her latest action film, Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga.
On May 2, Taylor-Joy made her most glamorous appearance at the Australian premiere of the post-apocalyptic film in a matching ensemble for the 27-year-old from Paco Rabanne’s Spring 1996 Couture collection. Before joining her partner, Chris Hemsworth (one of this year’s Met Gala co-chairs), Taylor-Joy carefully posed in a metallic chain-trim mini dress, embellished with dozens of individual arrows stretching from her waist to the hem. Like her original runway moment, Taylor-Joy’s dress was completely sheer, so she added beige underwear underneath for extra coverage. The warrior princess theme continued on her flamboyant headdress, which, like her mini, was also decorated with bronze spears starting from her forehead and ending at the base of her neck. Considering her coordination with Paco Rabanne filled the shine quota tenfold, The Queen’s Gambit the star skipped any jewelry at all and instead accessorized her red carpet outfit with lucid slingback pumps.
While Taylor-Joy’s Paco Rabanne number will live rent-free in our minds for some time to come, it’s (thankfully) just the beginning Furiosa: The Mad Max Saga press tour, so stay tuned for more applause-worthy archival footage ahead of the film’s May 24 release. And who knows? Perhaps she’ll show off her style at next week’s Met Gala in another vintage outfit. Only time will tell.
