Air India has announced that it will operate non-stop services between Bengaluru and London Gatwick (LGW) from August 18. This will make Bengaluru the fifth Indian city to be connected to the UK’s second-largest airport
Air India will operate five flights per week between Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) and London Gatwick, taking the total number of flights from India to London Gatwick to 17 per week.
The airline will operate Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on the route, equipped with 18 flat beds in Business class and 238 airy seats in Economy class.
“We are delighted to be able to offer our guests convenient non-stop flights between Bengaluru and London Gatwick. This recent route meets the growing demand for travel between these two significant business and leisure destinations and reinforces our commitment to growing our global network,” said Campbell Wilson, CEO and Managing Director of Air India.
Flight bookings will open in a phased manner from June 7 across all channels, including Air India’s official website (www.airindia.com), mobile app and authorized travel agents and partners.
Flight AI177 will depart Bengaluru at 1:05 p.m. and arrive London Gatwick at 7:05 p.m. (local time). From London Gatwick, flight AI178 will depart at 20:35 (local time) and will arrive in Bengaluru at 10:50 (arrive the next day). From Bengaluru, the flight will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.
