NEW DELHI: During the UPSC entrance exams 2024, an artificial intelligence-based application called PadhAI made headlines for its remarkable results. This AI-powered application not only passed the entire exam, but it did it in an incredibly miniature time. PadhAI reportedly scored over 170 out of 200, far exceeding the typical score required to qualify, which typically falls below 100. As per an official release, this result places PadhAI’s score in the top 10 in the country, if not in the first place.
The app developed by a team of IIT staff took part in the exam at a public venue on Sunday, right after the UPSC Prelims Examination in the presence of guests from the education sector, UPSC community and media professionals at The Lalit Hotel in Delhi.
According to the release, the entire article took less than seven minutes to complete.
The event was broadcast live on livestream.padhai.ai and YouTube, where the questions and answers are publicly available, he added.
The AI answers were also benchmarked against broad AI models available in the market from massive tech companies like OpenAI, Microsoft and Google using answer keys issued by top coaching institutes.
“This is the highest score obtained in the last 10 years of UPSC exams. We believe that while our event is the first of its kind, in a few years such events will become commonplace as several educational institutions race to solve tasks quickly and precisely using AI,” said PadhAI CEO Karttikeya Mangalam.
