Whether under ponderous load on the drivetrain, in demanding conditions on mountain passes or in city traffic, the modern 911 coped with even the toughest challenges with ease. In total, our engineers and test drivers logged over 5.1 million miles during the development phase.”
Porsche put racing driver Jörg Bergmeister in the car and urged him to set a representative lap time on the Nürburgring Nordschleife, which he achieved in seven minutes and 16.934 seconds. Compared to the senior Carrera S, the modern hybrid was 8.7 seconds faster per lap. If you want to compare it, Timo Glock drove a 997-generation 911 GT2 RS to a lap time of seven minutes and 18 seconds. Yes, this hybrid machine will be quick.
The company didn’t reveal many details, but it looks like the standard 911 Hybrid will replace the current 443-horsepower Carrera S in the lineup. There’s no word on pricing or power yet, but it’ll likely top out at 500 ponies and command a price tag of $150,000 or more. The car will debut in the world without camouflage on May 28.
