Adrien Brody has expressed his thoughts on the rise of AI, saying, “We should always value and support the creative process.”
“We live in a time of great change in all areas,” Brody said during the latest In Conversation session at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia. “Technology is a big factor. There’s also a change in how we view content and what kids are exposed to as content.”
“I grew up with filmmakers doing in-camera effects and dangerous, physical stunts. There are now new tools available that definitely enhance our ability to do great work. But there’s no substitute for emotion.”
“We should always value and support the creative process and beauty of filmmaking. That’s not to say that inevitable evolution is bad.”
“There are so many content choices these days, it’s hard to categorize them all.”
Brody also revealed during the 40-minute conversation session that he has not taken any acting roles since then. brutalistfor which he won his second Best Actor Oscar earlier this year. Brody said, “It’s not because I haven’t had interesting opportunities before, but it just didn’t feel like the right fit.”
Brody won the award for his role as Laszlo Toth, a Hungarian-Jewish Holocaust survivor and architect who immigrated to the United States.
The actor’s first Oscar win came in 2003 for another 20th century period drama, directed by Roman Polanski. pianistBrody played Wladyslaw Szpilman, a Polish-Jewish pianist, and portrayed his experiences during World War II.
During the conversation session, he became the latest Red Sea guest to pay tribute to Saudi Arabia’s growing industry. ”
“It’s great to be here and witness the evolution of the festival and how Saudi Arabia is bringing film and creativity to so many people,” Brody said. “Young people, new directors, women – their voices are often not respected enough – I think that’s really great and deserves to be celebrated.”
