ROME: Italian companies could boost their added value by around 50 billion euros ($54.30 billion) by 2030 through the widespread utilize of generative artificial intelligence (AI), according to an Accenture study published on Wednesday.
The research results were presented at the annual meeting in Rome of the Leonardo Committee, a business group promoting “Made in Italy”. The group is not affiliated with the Leonardo defense and aerospace group.
Another 30 billion euros ($32.47 billion) in additional added value could come from strengthening the “Made in Italy” brand in international markets, including for industries such as chemicals, pharmaceuticals and mechatronics, the Leonardo Committee said in a statement.
The study also indicates that greater utilize of artificial intelligence and the promotion of the “Made in Italy” brand could create approximately 300,000 modern jobs in the affected industries compared to the baseline scenario of 2030.

Artificial intelligence technology is a major concern for businesses and policymakers. Italy has made it one of the priorities of its presidency of the Group of Seven wealthy nations, and last month its government passed a draft law to regulate its utilize.
The bill, which is expected to be discussed in parliament, envisages an initial investment of up to €1 billion in AI projects and start-ups, with support from state lender Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP).
