Yesterday, while walking around Beverly Hills with friends, I came across a very unique car. This very low mileage 2019 Porsche 911 GT2RS is one of the most customized model specifications ever created by Porsche, offering over $344,000 in options, meaning the MSRP of $639,345 is 217 percent above the car’s base price. If that wasn’t enough, was recently auctioned by RM Sotheby’s as part White Collection for a whopping $1,006,000.
More exhilarating than just seeing this unique GT2 parked on the street was seeing how damn it was sullied it was. If you’re going to spend a million dollars on a car, you better get it sullied!
As you might expect from the name, almost all of the White Collection cars were painted white and barely ran. Only this GT2 RS had it fifteen nice on the odometer when it was auctioned, so I was very pleased to see the front end covered in bugs and the rear fender flare panel covered in rubber. I think white cars look especially good when they’re sullied, and performance cars look even better when they’re not spotless.
While this GT2 may not look like much at first glance, it has plenty of custom features from the factory. Grand Prix White is a shade from the Porsche Paint to Sample catalog that covers all exterior components that are normally black, such as the front splitter, side skirts, rear bumper and grille mesh. All carbon fiber body components are colored dim blue and the wheels are painted deep sea blue.
You can’t see it in my photos, but the interior is also very personalized. Almost everything is covered in Yachting Blue leather, a common thread on many White Collection cars, and also features Pebble Gray stitching and Bianco Leda piping. RM Sotheby’s says more than 25 different areas have been covered in matching leather, and the Alcantara headliner is also finished in Yachting Blue. Other accents include white Grand Prix instrument dials, plenty of blue carbon fiber accents and even matching floor mats.
So who bought this extremely pricey, extremely low mileage Porsche and started driving it? Edwin Castro, the guy who won $2 billion Powerball lottery in 2022. Castro, a native Californian who previously worked as a mechanic, fulfilled every car enthusiast’s dream by amassing an excellent collection of cars, both vintage and recent, including several Porsches. To all the luxurious people reading this, whether you just got luxurious or have senior money: This this is how you should exploit your cars.
