Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s debut series ‘Heermandi’ was the talk of the town after its release. Whether it was the show’s aesthetic, the songs, or the cast’s acting skills, savvy audiences were quick to appreciate the series and period drama. However, one actress, namely acute trolling Sharmin Segal, made the cast of the show come out in her defense. Richa Chadha, who is also a part of the show, posted Instagram stories for the haters.
Richa Chadha wrote on her Instagram: “For the past month, whenever I managed to stay alert and vigilant, I deleted negative comments about my friend that appeared in my comments. Boys? Offer constructive criticism, but so much instinctive hatred?
She further wrote, “It’s one thing to reject someone’s performance, theek hai! Mat karo pasand, aapka haq hai. Par aise chatkare le ke troll to mate karo (You can’t dislike because it’s up to you, but please refrain from adding such a lot of trolling)? Please? Out of context interview clips (which are also from a legal roast, y’all operate). Why?… I know it’s tempting to follow a trend, but turning another human being into clickbait? I think we can all do more, be better. Please. (red heart, folded hands emoji) This can affect someone’s mental health. Significant elections have just taken place, there is a heatwave, it’s true, a lot is happening in the world! Please continue?”
For the uninitiated, Sharmin Segal played the role of Alamzeb. After the series premiere, Sharmin disabled the comments section on her Instagram. Recently, the creators extended the series for a second season. I’ve loved watching the series resonate with audiences around the world, and I couldn’t ask for a better partner than Netflix. I am ecstatic to announce that we are back with a second season,” said director Sanjay Leela Bhansali in a statement.
In the first season of the show, Sonakshi Sinha played the role of Rehana Apa and Fardeen, Manisha Koirala played Mallikajaan, Sanjeeda Sheikh played Waheeda, Aditi Rao Hydari played Bibbojaan, Richa Chadha played Lajjo and Sharmin Sehgal played Alamzeb.
