Security arrangements have been strengthened at the University College of Engineering, Konam in Nagercoil, which is the computing center of the Kanniyakumari Lok Sabha constituency.
As the counting of votes for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections is scheduled to take place across the country on Tuesday, central armed forces have arrived in the district to ensure security.
For Kanniyakumari and Nagercoil Assembly constituencies, MV Seshagiri Babu (77290-30405) was appointed as counting observer.
Pankaj Kumar Sharma (94191-70002) has been appointed from Vilavancode Assembly constituency. Similarly, Soujanya Bharani (99004-76447) will inspect Colachel, Padmanabhapuram and Killiyur Assembly constituencies.
In Thoothukudi Lok Sabha constituency, all preparations have been made on Tuesday at the VOC Government Engineering College, where the counting is to take place, for the massive day.
While the day began with the counting of votes cast by post, later the counting of votes from electronic voting machines (EVMs) began.
It was informed that for Thoothukudi and Kovilapatti assembly constituencies, counting will be done in 21 rounds and for Vilathikulam, Ottapidaram, Tiruchendur and Srivaikuntam assembly constituencies, counting will be done in 19 rounds.
For all the six Assembly constituencies – Thoothukudi, Kovilpatti, Vilathikulam, Ottapidaram, Tiruchendur and Srivaikuntam falling under Thoothukudi Lok Sabha constituency, Divesh Sehara (90064-22840) has been appointed as counting observer.
