Novel Delhi: Renowned TV actress Sanjeeda Shaikh made her OTT debut with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus Constitution: Diamond Bazaar. The handsome star played Waheeda, a courtesan in the web series, which received rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Recently, in an interview with Hauterrfly, Sanjeeda talked about an incident where a woman touched her inappropriately at a nightclub.
SANJEEDA SHAIKH OPENS THAT SHE WAS PRESENTED BY A WOMAN
The actress recalls how she was once groped by a woman, which was shocking for her. “I remember one incident very vaguely, but it involved a woman. I was at a nightclub. One woman walked by and just touched my breast and left. I was a little surprised, as was what had just happened. We hear men patting you on the back and behaving inappropriately, ladkiyaan koi kum nahi hai.”
“If you follow the wrong path, you follow it anyway. It has nothing to do with men or women, whatever is wrong is wrong. If a woman has hurt you, tell her. Because I think playing the victim card is very unattractive.”
SANJEEDA SHAIKH ON DIVORCE
In the same interview, Sanjeeda also talked about her divorce from actor Aamir Ali. “There are men and there are partners who try to demotivate you, tell you that you can’t do anything. Or they will say you won’t be able to do it. It’s better to stay away from such people. There are phases in every relationship where you are joyful and then there are phases when you are not and then you call for saving your life and that is what I did for myself because I started to love myself and I started to put myself first and that is very, very critical.”
“I feel lucky whatever happened to me. Maybe then I felt that I was the most depressed person, or I was very gloomy, or: “What is happening to me, what is happening to my life?” But overcoming it all and being joyful with this version of yourself is a blessing,” she said.
Sanjeeda and Aamir got married in 2012 and divorced in 2021. They also have a daughter through surrogacy named Ayra Ali.
Recently, Sanjay Leela Bhansali announced the second season of his superhit web series Heeramandi for Netflix.
