The discussion about the advisory role and the voting project took place at a March meeting at Montsorrel, Peltz’s sprawling oceanfront estate in Palm Beach, Florida, with a group of wealthy and powerful friends, according to some people familiar with the discussions. The Up-to-date York Times previously reported that the meeting had taken place, but details of the talks had not previously been disclosed.
The people said that as guests nibbled on a Sunday breakfast of eggs, bacon and fresh fruit served by Peltz’s staff, Peltz, Trump and Musk advocated for the November election, criticizing Biden’s management of the country.
It was a family matter. Musk and his son X, who often accompanies him to events, were part of a group that also included Trump and his 18-year-old son Barron. Musk and Peltz know each other in part through Peltz’s son, Diesel, a tech entrepreneur who is friends with Musk. Diesel Peltz was also at breakfast.
A potential administration adviser role for Musk will likely be modeled on the role previously held by Isaac Perlmutter, former Marvel CEO and confidant of both Peltz and Trump, one of the people said.
During Trump’s presidency, Perlmutter served in an advisory role at the Department of Veterans Affairs along with two other members of Trump’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida: a Palm Beach doctor and a lawyer. The three spoke with agency staff and discussed a range of issues, including budgets, mental health initiatives, software purchases and an overhaul of VA’s record-keeping systems.
This isn’t Musk’s first rodeo when it comes to collaborations trump. Already in 2017 served on White House business advisory groupsbut he quickly resigned after disagreeing with Trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris climate accord.
