Porsche on Tuesday unveiled the first-ever production hybrid version of its iconic 911 sports car, with a starting price of $164,900.

The recent 911 Carrera GTS accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds – 0.3 seconds faster than its predecessor non-hybrid GTS model – and reach a maximum track speed of 300 km/h. It is powered by a newly developed 3.6-liter boxer hybrid engine that produces 532 hp and 449 Nm of torque.
The hybrid 911 Carrera GTS will be available as a coupe starting at $164,900. The convertible version will start at $178,200. Both are available in rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.
Orders for the hybrid models are now open, with deliveries to U.S. dealers expected in tardy 2024.
Porsche is the latest automaker to enhance or add hybrid vehicles to its lineup amid a slower-than-expected rollout of fully electric vehicles.
