Police arrested Subham Mithila, the man lying on the hood of the car, and a case was registered against the 17-year-old driver along with his father, a retired government official who owns the car, an official said on Monday. The incident took place in the busy Shivaji Chowk area of Kalyan in Thane district on Saturday.
“The teenager took inspiration from social media and convinced his father to buy a used BMW for Rs 5 lakh and drive it on the street without a driving license,” said Senior Police Inspector Suresh Gund. He added that the owner of the car had received a notice. As a 17-year-old, it is worth adding that the teenager did not even have a driving license, as in the Pune Porsche case, but he performed perilous acrobatics on busy roads.

The arrest comes as part of ongoing investigation into a separate incident in Pune involving a teenage driver. The Mumbai case further highlights the dangers of driving without a license and reckless stunts. Authorities are expected to exploit this incident as a deterrent and prevent similar behavior in the future while the investigation in Pune continues and the case continues to be heard several times a day.
