Eddie Murphy makes waves in the first full trailer for the upcoming Netflix action comedy sequel Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.
Director Mark Molloy’s film will debut on the streaming service on July 16. Murphy leads a cast that also includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Taylour Paige, Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser, Bronson Pinchot and Kevin Bacon.
Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F sees the star reprise his role as Detective Axel Foley, who looks to save the life of his daughter (Paige) by teaming up with fresh partner (Gordon-Levitt) and familiar faces Billy Rosewood (Reinhold) and John Taggart (Ashton) to foil conspiracy. Murphy created his character thanks to the 1984 hit directed by Martin Brest Beverly Hills Copwritten by Danilo Bach and Daniel Petrie Jr. After it became the highest-grossing film of the year, two sequels followed, the last of which hit theaters in 1994.
Axel F’The teaser trailer was released in December and includes Reiser’s warning to Murphy: “Watch where you are, OK?” This leads Murphy to respond, “I’ll be fine. They love me in Beverly Hills.
Molloy directed the fourth Beverly Hills Cop based on a screenplay by Will Beall, Tom Gormican and Kevin Etten. Murphy, Jerry Bruckheimer and Chad Oman are producing the film, with Ray Angelic, Charisse Hewitt-Webster and Lorenzo Di Bonaventura serving as executive producers.
Murphy’s latest films include a Christmas movie Candy Lanewhich arrived on Prime Video in behind schedule 2023. Other projects include last year’s Netflix comedy You people alongside Jonah Hill, Nia Long and Julia Louis-Dreyfus along with Amazon’s 2021 sequel. America 2 is coming.
