Ahead of the fifth phase of polling for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Bollywood celebrities including Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty and Shah Rukh Khan among others came out and appealed to the people of Mumbai to vote. On Saturday, SRK reached out to his X (formerly Twitter) and urged voters to come out on election day and fulfill their civic duties. “As responsible citizens of India, we must exercise our right to vote this Monday in Maharashtra. Let us do our duty as Indians and vote with the well-being of our country in mind. Keep going, promote our right to vote,” he wrote.
Now, a day before the elections, several other Bollywood stars have come forward and urged people to vote. In the video, actor Akshay Kumar emphasized the importance of every vote and said that every Mumbaikar must enjoy Sunday and on Monday, go out of their homes and vote for their favorite Lok Sabha candidate.
Ayushmann Khurrana said, “Friends, it’s time to fight. Yes, the Lok Sabha elections are in the main phase. Ab aapki baari hai (Friends, it’s voting time. Yes, the Lok Sabha elections are being held in phases and now it’s your turn).”
Actress Shilpa Shetty also urged the people of Mumbai who are eligible to vote in the Lok Sabha polls.
Music composer Vishal Dadlani in a video said that he would leave Mumbai for the weekend but would return on Monday to discharge his civic duties and vote in the Lok Sabha elections.
Veteran actor Suniel Shetty also asked voters to come out and cast their votes. Watch his video.
Earlier this week, Salman Khan also urged the people of Mumbai to vote and wrote on his account So do what you want man, but go out, vote and don’t disturb your Bharat Mata..Bharat Mata ki Jai.”
For unconfirmed elections in 6 Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai are scheduled for Phase 5. The seats are Mumbai North, Mumbai North West, Mumbai North East, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai South and Mumbai South Central. Maharashtra has 48 Lok Sabha seats, the second largest after Uttar Pradesh. Polling in the first four phases has ended and the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha polls is scheduled for May 20. The counting and results will be announced on June 4.
