The best word to describe acne: annoying. It’s like my skin knows my schedule and chooses to attack when it knows an essential event is coming up. Unfortunately, I tend to nitpick – it’s the worst thing you can do when you’re experiencing breakouts. This, along with popping, can lead to infection, scarring and discoloration. If nothing else, picking at your acne will prolong the healing process. My best way to avoid further irritation and eliminate spots is to pat my pimples.
I most often struggle with acne on and around my chin, both the hormonal cystic variety and superficial blackheads. Fortunately, there are pimple patches designed specifically for all types of acne. For surface pimples, I look for hydrocolloid products that remove impurities and reduce redness. For deeper spots, I choose micro-dart patches with salicylic acid to attack the source of the blemish. My other criteria for a good pimple patch is this Actually it stays stuck to my face. Whether I wear it while working from home or at night, I don’t want to constantly be pressing product against my face or, worse yet, waking up with it on my pillow.
In addition to fighting acne with patches, I have made some changes to my daily routine to heal my skin. What I realized most was that I was using too many products and too raw ingredients. By limiting my skincare selection, I have noticed fewer breakouts. The 2024 TZR Beauty Groundbreakers Awards led to a lot of changes in my beauty routine, but especially in the skincare department. The Fenty Beauty Melt Awf Jelly Oil Makeup-Melting Cleanser helps me remove all my makeup at the end of the day to combat clogged pores, while the Rhode’s Glazing Milk supports the skin’s protective barrier, moisturizes and reduces redness.
