A case of sexual harassment of a 47-year-old domestic aid was registered on April 28 at Holenarsipur city police station in Hassan district against Revanna and his son and MP Prajwal Revanna.
According to reports, Prajwal left for Germany on April 27 and is still at huge.
The complainant alleged that the father-son duo sexually assaulted her at the 66-year-old MLA’s house. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), which is probing the sexual abuse allegations made against Prajwal and related cases, has sought custody of the former minister. In this case, Revanna’s lawyers filed an application for anticipatory bail.
However, the 42nd Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) heard the case and granted Revanna interim relief till Friday.
The SIT sent two notices to Revanna, son of JD(S) patriarch and former chief minister HD Deve Gowda, and Prajwal to join the probe, but both of them skipped it. On Thursday, Revanna filed an anticipatory bail application, but the SIT opposed the decision and sought custody or remand. The court after hearing both sides decided to rehear the case on Friday and by then it had granted relief to Revanna.
On Monday, the Special Tribunal for Elected Representatives granted bail to Revanna on charges of kidnapping one of the women allegedly sexually abused by Prajwal, as seen in leaked videos.
Revanna was subsequently released from prison. He was arrested by the SIT on May 4 in this case. 33-year-old Prajwal was charged with repeatedly sexually abusing women.
The scandal triggered a political storm and the ruling Congress and the BJP-JD(S) fell into crisis. He was the joint candidate of the BJP-JD(S) alliance from the Hassan Lok Sabha segment, which went to the polls in the first round on April 26.
The Interpol Blue Corner Notice issued against Prajwal seeking to bring him back to the country to face trial has not yet yielded the desired effect.
