Panaji: Goa Health Minister Vishwajit Rane has said that patients will soon have access to artificial intelligence-based lung cancer screening tools at all district hospitals and primary health centers (PHCs) in the state. The state has two district hospitals – one each at Mapusa in North Goa and Margao in South Goa.
In a post on his X handle on Saturday, Rane said, “With innovation, AI-based lung cancer screening tools will soon be available in all district and primary care hospitals, underscoring Goa’s commitment to holistic cancer care.”
Goa has emerged as a leader in cancer treatment with a comprehensive approach focused on early detection, accessible treatment and advanced methodologies, he said.
The minister said that the state’s primary health care initiatives are offering free breast cancer screening tests, thereby ensuring timely intervention.
Additionally, Goa Medical College is providing free pertuzumab and trastuzumab combination therapy to patients with HER2+ breast cancer (which tests positive for a protein called human epidermal growth factor receptor 2), he said.
