Chrome version 122 is finally arriving, and Google says it will bring quite a few changes to the browser, including an AI typing assistant and several other improvements. The update started recently, so if it’s not available yet, don’t hesitate.
To try out the recent AI-powered typing assistant, start typing a message. After entering a few words, select Facilitate me write. Google says this feature should aid you create longer and properly formatted messages, but as I mentioned above, I haven’t had a chance to test its usability yet. Google also did not reveal which version of AI Gemini supports the tool. This is crucial information because there are some distinct differences between the type of results you’ll get with the free version of Gemini and Gemini Advanced. This recent tool is part of Google’s ongoing efforts to expand its AI offerings across devices. We’ll no doubt see more Gemini-based features in future Chrome updates as well.
In Chrome 122, Read Aloud will be available to all Android users using Google Chrome. This feature will read any selected text on the screen, which should be useful for users with visual impairments. Chrome 122 will also provide a diminutive performance boost thanks to changes to Secure Browsing – Google’s attempt to flag unsafe websites before you visit them. You will still receive notifications that a particular website is not secure, but HowtoGeek notes that this feature will no longer impact page load times.
To check for updates in Chrome, simply press the three vertical dots at the top of your browser, select Facilitate, then About Google Chrome. If there are any updates available, you will see them there.
