Whether you’re a die-hard Bridgerton or Featherington fan, or just fancy an elegant and delicious cocktail, we’ve got the inside scoop from experts who are just as notable as Lady Whistledown.
“I believe [cocktails] facilitate create a more immersive experience,” says Diana Novak-Tedd, national director of alcohol education and portfolio manager at Palm Bay International. “It increases the pleasure; becomes a determinant of a key moment in the script/on screen […] Part of enjoying a cocktail is escaping into a beautifully crafted flavor profile that can transport you back to a time of nostalgia in many ways. This can stimulate an emotional response through our senses of tastes and smells associated with our memories.
“Bridgerton it is a spectacle that serves as a vehicle for fantasy and imagination at a specific time, so that many of them are completely captivated by curiosity and wonder,” adds Novak-Tedd. This begs the question; How to translate the world of Regency Era England into our glasses in 2024? When it comes to alcohol selection, Novak-Tedd’s leaders are gin, brandy, rum and sherry because they are historically exact. “[They] were most consumed in the years in which the performance was to take place,” he emphasizes, adding that they were also mentioned in the program.
“I believe that with the beauty of the countryside, the slightly floral profiles and dainty, sweet flavors will work best with many of the characters in the film. Bridgerton” she explains. However, she admits that it’s not a bad idea to have a few cocktails on the opposite end of the flavor spectrum to highlight the show’s diverse stories. “I believe that finding a cocktail or two that carries a slightly bitter herbal and spiritual note would be very , very good”.
Josh Davis, founder Brown and balancedand Midwest Representative for Sorel liqueur he also knows a thing or two about creating potions reminiscent of this era. Davis ran a beverage business for “The Queens Ball” pop-up in Chicago in 2022. While he was a fan Bridgerton He says the cocktails have increased his appreciation for the program. “In my opinion, what makes a Bridgerton cocktail great is simply taking your favorite alcohol and making a well-balanced cocktail to enjoy watching the show.”
Bridgerton Rules of thumb for cocktails
When you’re at the store and buying ingredients for yourself Bridgerton as an addition to a mighty drink. Davis knows it can be tempting to Google recipes and follow them like a rumor… well, gospel, but he wants to get rid of that notion among home mixologists. “Go with what you like,” he urges. “When choosing alcohol, follow your gut feeling. You never know, you might create a novel way for people to enjoy cocktails while watching the show.
“First I’ll find flavors that you like, and then I’ll add little things that you’re interested in, but maybe a little afraid of or unfamiliar with,” advises Novak-Tedd. “As a general rule, when experimenting with building things, 80% should feel comfortable and 20% should feel like a completely novel experience.”
Ingredient-wise, he recommends Drumshanbo Gunpowder Irish Gin for its perfumed notes of tea and citrus on the nose and tongue, which then finish with a tea spice flavor. He also praises its versatility. “You can make a wide range of cocktails that take advantage of whatever direction the flavor goes, creating a completely novel cocktail experience every time you mix novel ingredients,” he says. The non-alcoholic ingredients she recommends having on hand to make scandal-free sips are fresh citrus juices, fresh herbs such as basil, rosemary or thyme, plain syrup, fresh berries and sparkling wine.
While Davis wants everyone to be true to their individual palate, she has two “really great” ingredient recommendations when it comes to Bridgerton– cocktails inspired by: your favorite tea and Sorel Liqueur. “Tea-based cocktails are great fun,” he says of the customary English drink. In the non-traditional world, Sorel is a hibiscus liqueur that “brings brightness and layers of flavor to any cocktail,” he says. It also provides the floral flavor and scent of England’s infamous gardens.
Novak-Tedd’s final suggestion for those looking to create an original one Bridgerton viewing experience is the apply of “classic glass”. These include champagne glasses, coup d’état glasses, and of course, crystal, baby.
