Plane crash in Pennsylvania: Multiple people injured

On Sunday afternoon, March 9th, a small aircraft crashed near Lancaster Airport, Pennsylvania, causing fire and multiple injuries.

Emergency services rushed to the scene as the flames engulfed the vehicle in the parking lot.

Small plane crashes in Pennsylvania

The aircraft, identified as Beechcraft Bonanza, took off from Lancaster Airport at 3:26 PM ET, but tried to retreat after the pilot reported an open door. Daily Mail.

The pilot reportedly had a hard time hearing air traffic control instructions due to wind noise from the unlocked hatch. In the call of distress, you can hear an air traffic controller telling the pilot to “pull up” before confirming that the aircraft has crashed near the parking terminal.

The plane crashed between Fairview Drive and Meadowview Court. The area includes retirement homes, but it is currently unknown whether residents were affected.

Online footage shows thick black smoke swirling from the wreckage, with multiple parking vehicles being destroyed by flames. The aircraft’s tail was the only visible part between the fragments, confirming the severity of the collision.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro said state police are supporting local first responders, adding “All federal resources will be available as responses continue.”

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that five people were on the plane. The cause of the crash remains unknown, and the FAA CNN.

Sadly, this adds to this year’s recent series of plane crashes in the US.
