Rajkummar Rao’s latest release ‘Srikanth’ hit the theaters this Friday. The film is based on the life of industrialist Srikanth Bolla and Rajkummar plays the titular role in Srikanth. In terms of box office performance, the film’s gross on Friday touched only Rs 2.25 crore. However, trade analysts are predicting good business over the weekend as there are no other massive films in theaters.
In terms of occupancy, film occupancy was 12.14% on May 10, with evening showings contributing the most.
Recently, the actor talked about the roles he still wants to play like Srikanth Bolla. ”I don’t really plan. No matter what character or film I am doing at that point, it becomes my dream role. I’m just focused on this character and this story. I’m sure there’s still a lot ahead of me.”
“For example, two-three years ago, I didn’t know that I would be able to do ‘Srikanth’, but it happened. There is more hunger in me as an actor and more fire. “There will be much more complex characters for me,” he added.
The 39-year-old actor, who has been a part of critically acclaimed biopic projects such as Shahid, Omerta and Bose: Dead/Alive, said he has an “obligation” to the real character he plays on screen. When asked whether he would like to make an action film or a riot film, Rao said he had no such desire.
In Srikanth, Rajkummar describes the role of the titular industrialist who, despite having visual impairment, pursued his dreams, eventually founding Bollant Industries. The film also stars Jyothika, Alaya F, Sharad Kelkar and Jameel Khan. The film was directed by Tushar Hiranandani.
