Mumbai: Director Sangeeth Sivan breathed his last on Wednesday. The news of his death was confirmed to ANI by Sangeeth Sivan’s brother Sanjeev Sivan.
The ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum’ director was undergoing treatment for a urinary tract infection at Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai and unfortunately, as reported by Sanjeev Sivan, he suffered a cardiac arrest on Wednesday.
Sangeeth Sivan, the eldest son of photographer and cinematographer Sivan, is survived by his wife Jayashree and children Sanjana and Shanthanu.
On learning about the director’s death, actor Sunlit Deol, who worked with Sangeeth Sivan in ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’, went to X and expressed his condolences.
Actor Riteish Deshmukh also penned an emotional note in memory of Sangeeth Sivan.
Referring to X, he wrote: “I am deeply saddened and shocked to hear that Sangeeth Sivan Sir is no more. As a newbie, you just want someone to believe in you and take the chance… I can’t thank him enough for Kya Kool Hai Hum & Apna Sapna Money Money. I speak softly, gentle and a wonderful man. My heart is broken today and I offer my sincerest condolences to his family and loved ones, his wife, children and brothers. I will miss you, your contagious laugh!!! Rest in Glory…”
Sangeeth Sivan directed the films ‘Apna Sapna Money Money’ and ‘Kya Kool Hai Hum’ starring Riteish.
Tusshar Kapoor also paid tribute to Sangeeth Sivan. He thanked Sangeeth for introducing him in comedy films.
“I have no words to describe what I feel right now…. A mentor of sorts, someone who introduced me to comedy with #KyakoolHainHum is no more! Sangeeth ji, I recently had the honor of working with you again but it will take me a long time to come to terms with this depressed news! I will miss you #SangeethSivan #gem,” he wrote.
Apart from Bollywood, his Malayalam films include Vyooham with Raghuvaran and Mohanlal’s Yodha.
