AGC sells Prince Naseem biopic ‘Giant’ to key territories

exclusive: Boxing drama giantopened the Red Sea International Film Festival on Thursday (December 4) and was distributed to major territories around the world through AGC International.

The film is produced by Germany and Switzerland (Capelight), Scandinavia (AB Svensk), Spain (Flins y Piniculas), South Africa (Empire Entertainment), Canada (Sphere Films), Portugal (Nos Lusomundo), Greece (Spentzos), Iceland (Myndform), Israel (United King), Turkey (Fabula Medya AS), the Baltic States and We have won contracts with CIS (Paradise/MGN) and the East. Europe (Daro Film Distribution), Mongolia (Filmbridge), Philippines (Viva Communications), India (Multivision Multimedia), Middle East (Salim Ramia & Co).

giant The MENA premiere was held as the opening night movie for The Red Sea, with director Rowan Attar and star Amir El Masri giving a presentation on stage.

True Brit Entertainment will release it broadly in the UK and Ireland on January 6th, and Vertical will release theatrically in the US in March.

The film tells the true story of British-Yemeni boxer Prince Naseem ‘Naz’ Hamed, from his working-class upbringing in the 1980s to his rise to international stardom with a world championship title under the tutelage of Irish boxing trainer Brendan Ingle (played by Pierce Brosnan).

Producers are Mark Lane of Tea Shop Productions, Kevin Sampson of White Star Productions, AGC CEO and Chairman Stuart Ford, and Ross Williams.

AGC Studios financed the film, with additional support from BondIt Media Capital. It premiered at the BFI London Film Festival in October and went on sale for the first time at AFM last month.
